JOB SUMMARY – The Clinical Data Analyst II is part of the insight Advisory – Medical Device Management team at HealthTrust. This individual will be responsible for the medical device implant and supply analytics (financial and clinical) and client platform reporting for the advisory engagements focused on physician preference items within a service line. The Clinical Data Analyst II is responsible for actively participating in the analysis of multiple aspects of the data and analytics lifecycle with an understanding of the underlying business processes. The Clinical Data Analyst II will provide input regarding business intelligence, as well as support and development of subject matter knowledge for reporting clinical procedures and items/products (e.g., physician preference items). The Clinical Data Analyst II will ensure a standardized and consistent approach to reporting generation and implementation of data governance.
  • Assist Clinical Directors or Managers in organizing, documenting, and testing requirements for cost analytics tools
  • Become proficient with spend analytics to help meet customer requirements and resolve issues as they arise
  • Develop, create and utilize new tools / dashboards for spend and utilization analytics
  • Work to continuously improve dashboards and other customer-facing tools for tracking opportunities and value delivery
  • Assist in the development of strategic roadmaps for hospital and corporate leadership
  • Perform ad hoc savings analysis for potential and current customers
DUTIES (included but not limited to) – 
  • Guide and lead all aspects of the analytic and business intelligence (BI) lifecycle from requirements to data analysis, report analysis, understanding of business processes, and definitions of success
  • Develop the appropriate strategies, plans, tools and approaches to ensure successful implementation of BI reports, dashboards and scorecards
  • Think analytically and critically to lead reporting standardization and automation efforts. Will assist in providing detailed requirements to IT development staff, and ensure that products are developed and tested in accordance with organizational standards
  • Use, analyze, and support BI applications and analytical tools, evaluate data quality, applications, and workflow functions
  • Retrieve, review, process, and analyze demographic, clinical and financial data provided by clients for analytical solutions
  • Complete high-level assessment of all client spend to identify cost reduction and efficiency opportunities. Provide in depth “what if” analysis of data using available tools.
  • Generate and prepare reports, scorecards, and dashboards to support business objectives. Format, run, distribute, and interpret reports using the available tools.
  • Maintain database of vendor spend categorization
  • Assist with preparation of client meeting agendas and presentations
  • Attend client project update calls and on-site meetings as needed. May be required to present data formally and informally and facilitate discussion regarding data outputs
  • Assess new technologies of interest to the team’s efforts.
Relationship and Team Building:
  • Provide assistance for Business Intelligence reporting solutions, potentially including: engaging in joint- development with application development teams, assisting user adoption, documenting and communicating standards and procedures.
  • Initiates interactions with business leadership and analysts to deeply understand the business needs related to reporting and visualization efforts.
  • Identify and champion management reporting best practices and standards for the team. Engage with multi-disciplinary teams using data to improve usage and operational workflow.
  • Ensures data stewardship and consistent analytical methods are applied throughout the department

  • Collaborate with other teams to integrate solutions where additional data and subject expertise is required.
  • Function effectively independently and across teams; accomplishes tasks with minimal guidance.

Job Requirements

Bachelor’s degree required.
3 years data/process/ analysis experience required.
