Director of Supply Chain Operations
Job Summary – The Director of Supply Chain Operations (also referred to as Supply Chain Director or SCD) is responsible for the daily operations of all supply chain functions conducted in the hospital facility.  The SCD serves as the liaison between the Consolidated Service Center and the facility.  Supply chain functions include, but are not limited to, inventory management, vendor relationship management, and managing supply expense in accordance with plans and objectives.  The SCD is directly responsible for supply chain operations in the OR where applicable.  The Director of Supply Chain Operations integrates the department’s services with the hospital’s primary functions, develops/implements policies and procedures that guide or support services, assesses and improves department performance, and ensures orientation and continuing education of departmental staff. As the leader, this person may recommend resources/space needed by the department and may participate in the selection of outside services. They serve as a key promoter of the Consolidated Service Center, which strives to meet and exceed the needs of its customers.    
Supervisor – Supply Chain Division COO (or other supply chain leader as may be applicable)
Supervises – Onsite Supply Chain support personnel including, but not limited to, the following:
• Supply Chain Technicians • Supply Chain Coordinator(s), as applicable
• Supply Chain OR Materials Manager, as applicable
Strategic Responsibilities Building Relationships and Communication
• Builds strong relationships with internal stakeholders at all levels (c-suite, clinical, department leaders, staff, and physicians) through solid interpersonal skills
• Maintains strong working relationships with external stakeholders
• Communicates supply chain financial, clinical, and outcomes information to key stakeholders appropriate for their levels Building Culture

• Provides clear financial analysis for appropriate decision-making, with focus on the primary drivers of supply expense and utilization
• Supports decision-making through interpretation of financial and clinical data
• Serves as the “clinical conscience” for supply related decisions
• Leads multi-disciplinary teams toward consensus
• Identifies opportunities for efficiency and cost containment (either as contracting, operational, or utilization management)
• Executes strategies supporting financial and clinical results for key initiatives, minimizing risk where possible
• Drives performance (efficiency, value generation, execution of strategies, etc.) Supply Chain Management
• Provides Facility support as the “go-to” resource for supply chain issues
• Manages supply chain operations within the Facility
• Prioritizes multiple initiatives and strategies to meet the needs of the Facility Developing and Aligning Talent
• Supports leadership and staff development strategies and plans
• Supports Human Resource and Education initiatives
• Recruits and mentors supply chain resources in supporting facility initiatives
• Implements measures to retain supply chain resources
Operational Responsibilities
• Lead and manage all facility Supply Chain operations activities
• Manage the profit and loss of the facility Supply Chain operations
• Execute the infrastructure project plan for the facility. This includes the implementation of the standardization programs for all supply chain functions, SMART cleanup, master file standardization, online requisitioning, and EDI
• Facilitate the implementation of market based purchasing projects at the facility
• Execute the implementation and operational plan for all of the point of use systems
• Coordinate, manage, and evaluate facility Supply Chain personnel
• l • Create a supportive environment for supply chain staff development and the delivery of supply chain solutions
• Raise and resolve facility based supply chain issues and improvement opportunities
• Coordinate and drive efforts to enable supply improvement initiatives (SII) to succeed within the facility
• Facilitate the standardization of products and optimize supply utilization through effective collaboration with Physicians and clinicians
• Manage the facility implementation plan, identify and mitigate risks (leverage lessons learned, utilize proactive communication techniques), and monitor resource allocations to ensure successful execution of plan
• Execute the Supply Chain Performance Measurement plan at the facility and report these results to the Supply Chain Officer in an accurate and timely manner
• Execute a continuous improvement program for supply chain functions
• Ensure useful knowledge is captured and promote sharing of information
• Recommends sufficient number of qualified/competent staff
• Determines staff qualifications and competence
• Develops and maintains accurate initial and annual competency checklists, and initiates completion of initial and annual competency attestation forms
• Actively seeks ways to control costs without compromising patient safety, quality of care of the services delivered
• Attends in-service presentations, and complete mandatory education week including, but not limited to, infection control, patient safety, quality improvements, MSDS and OSHA Standards
• Demonstrates knowledge of occurrence reporting system and utilizes system to report potential patient safety issues
• Is authorized to transport and deliver legend drugs, non-prescription drugs, contrast media and drug containing devices relative to core competencies of the position
• Practice and adhere to the “Code of Conduct” philosophy and “Mission and Value Statement”
• Operational Responsibilities - Supply Chain OR, as applicable
• Lead and manage facility Supply Chain OR operations activities
• Build and maintain strategic working relationship with the OR leadership to assist and consult in all supply concerns
• Collaborates with OR leadership to optimize supply storage, replenishment, and restocking processes • Assist OR and Supply Chain teams with Medical Information System data cleanup and implementation of HCA best practice for supply item setup and management
• Build environment of continuous improvement in supply chain OR processes
• Collaborate with Supply Chain DDOR, Clinical Resource Director, OR Director and other key stakeholders on Supply Chain OR/Surgical Service initiatives
• Lead and manage Supply Chain Surgical Services staff (when applicable)

• Minimum of three years hospital management experience required 
• Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Business Management, Finance, Accounting, Logistics, Supply Chain, or healthcare related focus.
