Job Description

CSC Pharmacy Manager

JobSummary – The CSC PharmacyManager is responsible for oversight of the system integrity, quality assuranceand issue resolution with customers for the consolidated pharmacy services atthe CSC. This includes but is not limited to packaging, barcoding, and pharmacyspecific competencies. Will assist in ensuring compliance with CSC pharmacypolicies and procedures to ensure all federal and state regulations arestrictly adhered to. The pharmacist willalso ensure all appropriate records are maintained and that all qualityassurance validation occurs in accordance with Board of Pharmacy or StateDepartment of Health rules and regulations.

Supervises– Pharmacy Technicians if applicable, CSC Pharmacy Inventory Analyst

Key Interactions – Division Pharmacy staff, Supply ChainDirectors, Facility Pharmacy Directors, Facility Pharmacy Staff, WarehouseManager, Other Warehouse Shipping/Receiving Staff, CSC pharmacy inventoryanalyst

Duties (included but not limited to):

• Managesthe SMART, Automated Dispensing Cabinet and Packager interfaces and databasesto ensure proper drug distribution to CSC pharmacy customers.

• Performspharmacist check of packaged, labeled and bar-coded pharmaceuticals asrequired; assures accuracy of all packaged and bar-coded pharmaceuticalproducts.

• Verifiesaccuracy of barcode and drug changes being communicated to facilities requiredfor linking in Pharmacy Information Systems

• Developsthe knowledge, skills, and the functional competency of pharmacy technicians orpharmaceutical handlers involved in the packaging and distribution activities.

• Overseesand coordinates daily workflow in CSC pharmacy and ensures staffing is adequateto complete work as needed

• Assistsin conducting performance evaluations of pharmacy technicians, pharmaceuticalhandlers and pharmacy analyst.

• Assuresintegrity and security of all pharmaceuticals stored in the CSC.

• Ensurestracking of all lot number and expiration dates of CSC packaged pharmaceuticalsif applicable.

• Ensuresall federal drug recall policies and procedures are followed.

• Assistswith training and certification of all personnel involved in CSC pharmaceuticaldistribution operations as it relates to pharmacy systems and quality assuranceprogram.

• Overseesall policies and procedures for barcoding, packaging and quality processes

• Providesguidance and oversight to the inventory analyst for the substitution oftherapeutic equivalent products in the case of shortages or back orders.

• Ensuresall federal, state and local hazardous pharmacy waste policies and proceduresare followed.

• Practiceand adhere to the “Code of Conduct” philosophy and “Mission and ValueStatement”

• Otherduties as assigned

• Technicalskills – computer proficiency (PC skills and hospital system), automationtechnology, barcoding and packaging technology



EDUCATION

• Completionof an accredited pharmacy degree program

• ContinuingEducation credits current per state law



EXPERIENCE

• Fiveyears of experience in Pharmacy preferred

• Pharmacysupervisory experience preferred

• Experiencein acute care pharmacy practice preferred.



CERTIFICATE/LICENSE

• Current pharmacy license in goodstanding

PHYSICALDEMANDS/WORKING CONDITIONS – Requiresprolonged sitting, some bending, stooping and stretching. Requires eye-hand coordination and manualdexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, photocopier, telephone, calculatorand other office equipment. Requiresnormal range of hearing and eyesight to record, prepare and communicateappropriate reports. Requires liftingpapers or boxes up to 50 pounds occasionally.Work is an office environment.Work may be stressful at times.Contact may involve dealing with angry or upset people. Staff must remain flexible and available toprovide staffing assistance for any/all disaster or emergency situations.
