Assistant Director ofSupply Chain Operations
 
Job Summary – TheAssistant Director of Supply Chain Operations is responsible for the dailyoperations of all functions assigned by the Supply Chain Director within thefacility.  It is generally anticipatedthat the Assistant Director will be assigned all supply chain responsibilitiesfor selected campuses within the facility. The Assistant Director of Supply Chain Operations assists in integratingthe department’s services with the hospital’s primary functions,develops/implements policies and procedures that guide or support service,assesses and improves department performance, and ensures orientation andcontinuing education of departmental staff as assigned.  This person may recommend resources/spaceneeded by the department and may participate in the selection of outsideservices in conjunction with the Director of Supply Chain Operations. Theyserve as a key promoter of the Service Center, which strives to meet and exceedthe needs of its customers.

Key Responsibilities
•        Lead and manage all facility Supply Chainactivities
•        Manage the profit and loss of the facilitySupply Chain operations
•        Execute the infrastructure project plan for thefacility.  This includes theimplementation of the standardization programs for all supply chain functions,SMART cleanup, master file standardization, online requisitioning, and EDI
•        Facilitate the implementation of market basedpurchasing projects at the facility
•        Execute the implementation and operational planfor all of the point of use systems
•         Coordinate, manage, and evaluate facilitySupply Chain personnel
•        Create a supportive environment for supply chainstaff development and the delivery of supply chain solutions
•        Raise and resolve facility based supply chainissues and improvement opportunities
•        Coordinate and drive efforts to enable supplyimprovement initiatives (SII) to succeed within the facility
•        Facilitate the standardization of products andoptimize supply utilization through effective collaboration with Physicians andclinicians
•        Manage the facility implementation plan,identify and mitigate risks (leverage lessons learned, utilize proactivecommunication techniques), and monitor resource allocations to ensuresuccessful execution of plan
•        Execute the Supply Chain Performance Measurementplan at the facility and report these results to the Director of Supply ChainOperations in an accurate and timely manner
•        Execute a continuous improvement program forsupply chain functions
•        Ensure useful knowledge is captured and promotesharing of information
•        Recommends sufficient number ofqualified/competent staff
•        Determines staff qualifications and competence.Develops and maintains accurate initial and annual competency checklists, andinitiates completion of initial and annual competency attestation forms
•        Actively seeks ways to control costs withoutcompromising patient safety, quality of care of the services delivered
•        Attends in-service presentations, and completemandatory education week including, but not limited to, infection control,patient safety, quality improvements, MSDS and OSHA Standards
•        Demonstrates knowledge of occurrence reportingsystem and utilizes system to report potential patient safety issues
•        Is authorized to transport and deliver legenddrugs, non-prescription drugs, contrast media and drug containing devicesrelative to core competencies of the position
•        Perform other duties as assigned

EDUCATION
Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management, HealthcareAdministration, Finance or similar is required.
 
EXPERIENCE
Minimum of three years hospital management experiencedrequired
 
PHYSICALDEMANDS/WORKING CONDITIONS: Requiresprolonged sitting, some bending, stooping and stretching. Requires eye-handcoordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard,photocopier, telephone, calculator and other office equipment. Requires normalrange of hearing and eyesight to record, prepare and communicate appropriatereports. Requires lifting papers or boxes up to 50 pounds occasionally. Work isperformed in an office environment. Work may be stressful at times. Contact mayinvolve dealing with angry or upset people. Must remain flexible and availableto provide staffing assistance for any/all disaster or emergency situations.Some travel may be required.
 
OSHA CATEGORY –The normal work routine involves no exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues(although situations can be imagined or hypothesized under which anyone,anywhere, might encounter potential exposure to body fluids). Persons whoperform these duties are not called upon as part of their employment to performor assist in emergency care or first aid, or to be potentially exposed in someother way.
