Job Summary:
The HealthTrust Ethics & Compliance Officer (“ECO”) is responsible for the implementation and further development of the HealthTrust Ethics & Compliance Program (“E&C Program”). The E&C Program is designed to promote compliance with laws and regulations, “doing the right thing” under all circumstances, and a culture of integrity throughout the organization. The purpose of the position is to help ensure that all HealthTrust stakeholders including employees, advisory board members, suppliers and members are aware of and comply with HealthTrust standards of conduct and laws relating to HealthTrust’s business that are applicable to them, as outlined in the HealthTrust Code of Conduct and related policies. The ECO is authorized to implement all necessary actions to ensure achievement of the objectives of an effective compliance program.
 
Responsibilities (included but not limited to):
 
  • Periodically review the existing HealthTrust Code of Conduct and related ethics policies to ensure areas of risk, as determined annually with the CEO, are being adequately addressed.  
  • Develop and implement training programs to communicate HealthTrust standards of conduct to employees, advisory board members and suppliers, consisting of orientation training for new employees; annual employee, board member and supplier refresher training; and training on specific policies as needed. 
  • Communicate to stakeholders the obligation to report potential issues to the ECO, the Ethics Hotline, management or another resource, ensuring that the HealthTrust policy of no retaliation for reporting a potential issue in good faith is well understood.
  • Conduct investigations of reports of potential violations of law or HealthTrust standards of conduct, often with the assistance of HealthTrust’s Human Resources, Legal, Information Protection and other staff. Produce written reports of findings and recommendations. 
 

Job Requirements

  • JD degree, or MBA with concentration in Business Ethics
  • Familiarity with some of the followingE&C issues: conflict of interest; HIPAA regulations; restrictions on givingor receiving things of value among business contacts; trade secret protection;appropriate supplier relationships; HR-related matters; Foreign CorruptPractices Act
  • A minimum of 10 years’ managementexperience including several years managing an ethics and compliance program.
