Job Summary – The BI Analyst II provides leadership and support specific to the development of reports within Supply Chain Financial Operations.  Requiring technical/BI awareness, this analytically-focused position is responsible for the interpretation and understanding of information systems used to serve the business and to drive supply expense savings. This individual will leverage existing reports and analytics to analyze business problems and processes to harness business intelligence knowledge and improve BI solutions across the enterprise. This goal will be achieved by working with cross-functional business teams and utilizing Tableau, Microstrategy, and/or Business Objects. The BI Analyst II is responsible for actively participating in the analysis of multiple aspects of the BI lifecycle from requirements gathering to data analysis, report analysis, and understanding of business processes. The BI Analyst II will ensure a standardized and consistent approach relating to BI report participation and implementation of Data Governance, and Analytics.  Participates in agile execution of the product lifecycle, the development of solution vision and goals and is responsible for ensuring quality of delivered products.  This position requires both strategic and tactical skillsets with expertise in database navigation, intellectual curiosity, and proficiency at problem solving.
 
Duties (included but not limited to):
  • Participate in analysis of multiple aspects of the BI lifecycle from requirements to data analysis, report analysis, and understanding of business processes.
  • Assist in analysis of BI Reporting architecture and report creation, analysis of guided analytics, and other BI solutions.
  • Produce BI solution designs that meet business requirements in a manner consistent with company and industry standards.
  • Ensure a standardized and consistent approach relating to BI participation and implementation of Data Governance, Business Intelligence (BI) and Analytics.
  • With direction and supervision act as subject matter specialist to assist development of the appropriate strategies, plans, tools and approaches to ensure successful implementation of BI reports, dashboards and scorecards.
  • Work to think analytically and critically to take ownership of reporting standardization and automating efforts.
  • Present data formally and informally, facilitating discussions regarding data outputs.
  • Participate in multi-disciplinary teams to use data in improving usage and operational workflow.
  • Utilize internal and external training opportunities to cross train on other Business Intelligence tools and database platforms such as Business Objects, Microstrategy, Tableau Desktop & Server, Qlik Tech products, SQL Server, Teradata, or others. 
  • Grow professionally to assume greater responsibilities for the activities listed above and demonstrate hands-on technical capability for development projects.
  • Provide moderate analysis and ad-hoc operational reports as requested by Group, Division, and Corporate leaders.
  • Identify reporting needs to support usage goals throughout the Facility, Division, and Group levels of HCA.
  • With direction, provide in depth “what if” analysis of data using available tools
  • Participate in operational performance reviews on an as-needed basis.

  • Other duties as assigned by the Manager of Supply Chain Analytics.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • Minimum of 3 years of progressively-responsible experience in a technical and/or analytics-based environment required.
  • Demonstrated SQL experience required, experience with Teradata and SQL Server desired.
  • Experience in an Agile BI Reporting development environment highly desirable.
  • Experience in a Supply Chain related field (Demand / Supply/ Inventory / Production / Material / Master / Capacity Planning, Warehousing and/or Optimization) preferred.
