The Clinical Resource Director position is responsible for establishing and leading the supply expense agenda for the clinical resource management program for a hospital(s). The Clinical Resource Director is responsible for driving positive change through program definition and leading initiatives that support the health care organizations’ clinical expense agenda. The position is responsible for reviewing and optimizing the group purchasing organization’s contract portfolio and developing and executing product standardization with the value analysis committees. The Clinical Resource Director has a broad enterprise and segment influence and will need to build alliances with Hospital Leadership, Physicians and Supply Chain to successfully execute their clinical supply expense plans. The position requires confidence, independent action, initiative, a sense of urgency, and the ability to make decisions and take responsibility for them. A well-suited candidate can react and adjust quickly to changing conditions

and come up with practical ideas for dealing with them.

Supervisor – Division Clinical Resource Director (DCRD)

Supervises – None

Essential Duties & Responsibilities (included but not limited to):

•Develops and implements facility or division based strategies and processes to reduce supply expense per adjusted admission

•Develops, implements, monitors and verifies facility(s) based product standardization, contract compliance, product utilization, cost data, process improvements and waste

•Identifies and implements supply expense margin improvement with a primary focus on high cost of good departments - surgical services, cath lab, ep lab and special procedures

•Utilizes clinical product value analysis committees to reduce the number of stock keeping units (SKUs) through standardization, maintains or increases product quality, evaluates processes and introduces new products

•Interacts with facility leadership and supply chain to identify improvement opportunities and develop/implement continuous quality improvement processes regarding supply/labor practices and recommends cost reductions

•Participates and communicates with facility medical staff and clinical staff to monitor, communicate and make improvements to utilization profiling

•Ensures communication and education regarding product and procedure changes occurs in all affected departments, to include physicians and medical management personnel

•Participates, develops content and facilitates a Supply Management Action team (SMAT) meetings; a similar responsibility may apply to Clinical Value Analysis Team (CVAT) meeting

•Identifies facility(s) supply expense variance, and participates in monthly operating reports, supply expense planning and HCA’s supply general ledger structure.

•Maintains and communicates facility(s) financial and performance measurements as gauge of standardization/utilization success

•Collaborates with physicians in identifying and implementing improvements and standardization

•Builds relationships with hospital leadership, chief medical officer, clinical directors, physicians, value analysis teams and supply chain leadership

•Demonstrates knowledge of occurrence reporting system and utilizes system to report potential patient safety issues

•Practices and adheres to the “Code of Conduct” philosophy and “Mission and Value Statement”

• Bachelor’s degree required (Business, Health Administration, Nursing, Pharmacy or other Allied Health Profession). Will consider a graduate of a Professional School of Nursing with related experiences in healthcare value analysis, clinical supply chain, or acute care hospital performance improvement

• Master’s degree highly preferred

• Demonstrated passion for continued, lifelong learning.

• Clinical/healthcare experience, minimum of 2 years of Acute care setting preferred

•LPN/RN, Certified Materials and Resource Professional (CMRP), Certified Value Analysis Health Professional (CVAHP), or similar credential preferred

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORKING CONDITIONS – Requires prolonged sitting, some bending, stooping and stretching. Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, photocopier, telephone, calculator and other office equipment. Requires normal range of hearing and eyesight to record, prepare and communicate reports. Requires lifting papers or boxes up to 50 pounds occasionally. May be exposed to toxic/caustic/chemicals/detergents. Work is performed in an office, and in the pharmacy and hospital environment. Work may be stressful at times. Contact may involve dealing with angry or upset people. Staff must remain flexible and available to provide staffing assistance for any/all disaster or emergency situations.
