JOBSUMMARY – Responsible for negotiating industry leading national agreements forthe group purchasing organization in the area of surgery centers, physicianclinics, long term care and other non-acute sites of care.   Objective is to ensure best in classindustry pricing and contract terms and conditions. Position'skey area of focus will be sourcing initiatives that are primarily categorieswith medium to high spend, complexity, risk and sensitivity.  Position may have some responsibility forother types of categories for the purposes of development and workloadallocation.
Individualis a seasoned negotiator with in-depth knowledge and experience in contractnegotiations and understanding of contract terms and conditions.  Individual must be able to use best practicesand knowledge of internal or external business issues to improve contractportfolio.  

DUTIES(included but not limited to):

  • Abilityto independently plan and execute project timelines for assigned categories,with minimal oversight.
  • Understandingor aptitude to learn the product categories assigned and how end-usersinterface with the products.        
  • Individualmust know and be able to use knowledge about supplier to develop strategies,create leverage, mitigate risks, anticipates direction of the market andpotential supplier direction.
  • Developsthe contract strategy, formulates a clear vision and articulates steps toachieve the negotiation objectives.
  • Theindividual must work closely with non-acute member organizations to develop astrategy that aligns with customer needs/requirements, and meets objectives ofthe group-purchasing organization.  Theindividual must also take into consideration the differences in requirementsthat may result from whether the member is owned by a HealthTrust IDN or is acompletely independent, free-standing provider. The strategy must be presentedand approved by HealthTrust senior leadership, and relevant HealthTrustAdvisory Boards. 
  • Strategiesmust contemplate a variety of complex considerations.  Individual must develop a strategy thatmanages and hedges risk to achieve the desired outcome.  The individual must be adept at readingsituations and adapting strategies or negotiations as necessary throughout thesourcing process.
  • Thoroughunderstanding and accountability for the sourcing process for their assignedportfolio.  Including market research,bid preparation, RFI, Strategy Development & Validation, RFP, ContractNegotiations, and contract launch.
  • CAPcategory strategies and final awards must be presented and validated bycustomer-led Advisory Boards and a customer-led, executive-level Supply ChainBoard. 
  • Individual'sboard presentations must be well prepared, concise, and articulated clearly. Individualmust consistently deliver a dynamic presentation that captures the audience'sattention and delivered with enthusiasm/passion. Individual must be able toguide the audience to the desired end result.
  • Overseesupplier relationship during the sourcing process.  Participate in supplier business reviews andreview new products/technologies as they arise in assigned categories.
  • Work withsuppliers and non-acute distributors to ensure that non-acute members arequickly and efficiently connected to all pertinent HealthTrust agreements.
  • Act as anadvocate for the non-acute members to ensure that their concerns or problemsare quickly and effectively addressed by the supplier.
  • Buildstrong relationships with senior level supplier and non-acute distributor contacts.  
  • Buildstrong customer relationships through frequent interaction (all levels, includingexecutive).
  • RepresentingHealthTrust at small-to-medium sized industry events, or other organizationalprojects with Suppliers and Customers.
  • Communicationsare primarily focused on effective and efficient communications with internalstakeholders and suppliers, but includes frequent communication to customers.
  • Collaborationrequired with functional team throughout sourcing process.
  • Meet/exceedfinancial & operational goals in the annual contracting plan. 
  • Play anactive role in ensuring uptake and utilization of agreements utilized bynon-acute members to ensure the members realize savings and HealthTrustrealizes administrative fee revenue.
  • Maintaintimely achievement of all assigned sourcing initiatives ensuring activitiesadhere to all established policies and procedures and standards of businessconduct. 
  • Resolvesupplier and/or customer issues.
  • Activelywork to resolve contract connection issues between members and bothmanufacturer and distributors
  • Maintainstrong customer relationships and build trust and respect by consistentlymeeting or exceeding customer expectations. Customers are internal and external.
  • Act as achampion for business process change, organizational change, and culturalchange.  May include leading processimprovement or training initiatives.

Job Requirements

AccreditedCollege Bachelor's Degree required (Supply Chain, Healthcare, Business,Finance)
5 yearsof relevant work experience preferred. Ideal candidate will have experience in strategic sourcing andnegotiating a variety of contracts in the surgery centers, physician clinics,long term care and other non-acute sites of care. Candidate must havedemonstrated success in managing equivalent or similar responsibilities.
