Job Summary

The Director, Clinical Research, serves as anintegral part of the clinical operations and sourcing teams, performing an extensivesearch of clinical evidence, regulatory and professional guidelines, journalsand other literature sources, to provide clinical support for variousHealthTrust sourcing initiatives. Working closely with members of the PhysicianAdvisor Program and through the creation of clinical evidencereviews (CER), technical review documents, and other tools, the clinicalevidence will be summarized creating content that is actionable for themembership and clinical advisory boards.


  • Understands the GPO and healthcare landscape toidentify and size clinical opportunities including but not limited to physicianpreference items (PPI) and clinically sensitive categories.
  • Effectively research, analyze, evaluate andsummarize evidence and data into sound clinical documents and tools (CERs,technical reviews, comparative matrices, etc.); requires creative, innovativeand curious learners who are willing to explore content outside their ownpersonal specialties or comfort areas and are confident in their literatureassessment and critical thinking skills.
  • Strategic collaboration with Sourcing andClinical Operations to maximize the effectiveness of the clinical researchdocuments and Physician Advisor engagement; discuss best-practice strategy withorganizational leaders as we help design the path to evidence-based actionsthat lead to best patient outcomes.
  • Identifies and develops new value-add productsand services for members to address changing market dynamics, new or emergingtechnologies, or modification in clinical practice.
  • Serves as clinical education support to MemberEducation team as they work to identify and develop live webinars, The Sourcecontent and HTU education agenda.
  • Participates in supply chain and clinicaladvisory board meetings.

Job Requirements

Education andExperience

  • Required: Bachelor’s degree nursing.
  • Preferred: Master’s degree nursing or otheradvanced clinical degree (MHS, MPH, PA)
  • Clinician with minimum 7 years’ hospital orhealth-system experience.
  • Previous demonstrated leadership experience(in hospital preferred), building positive relationships with internal andexternal stakeholders, and optimizing related metrics
  • Demonstrated experience with literatureevaluation and clinical writing
  • Strong understanding of supply chain, hospitaland healthcare consumerism (provider and physician challenges etc.)
