Job Description

JOB TITLE: Director of COE Operations
 
GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES - Manages and supervises all operational activities of the CSC Department of Pharmacy Services through supervision of Pharmacists or supportive staff.
 
SUPERVISOR – Director of Consolidated Supply Chain Operations or Division Director of Pharmacy

 
SUPERVISES - COE pharmacists

 
KEY INTERACTIONS – Facility Directors of Pharmacy, Supply Chain Directors, Warehouse Logistics Manager, Clinical Resource Managers
 
DUTIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
• Oversees all operations and coordinates workflow of the COE pharmacy operations
• Ensures adherence to all Board of Pharmacy, JCAHO, CMS and FDA standards at the CSC Pharmacy
• Assists in preparation of annual COE pharmacy operating budget
• Oversees procurement, receiving, and billing functions
• Maintains operating expenses based on an annual operating budget
• Interviews and hires all COE pharmacy employees
• Provides pharmacy and COE orientation and training to all employees
• Prepares pharmacy COE Key Performance Indicator report
• Ensures all policies and procedures are being followed by pharmacy staff
• Serve as pharmacist in charge for state licensure purposes as required.
• Maintains effective communication with customers, co-workers and team members
• Manages growth of COE services.
• Participates in quality improvement, fiscal and productivity goals and objectives with upper management
• Assists in preparation and implementation of department policies and procedures
• Ensures pharmacy operations meet all department mandated timeframes and deadlines
• Prepares and conduct annual performance evaluations for pharmacy staff
• Ensures all regulatory requirements and inspections are completed as needed
• Tracks and trends all medication incidents related to COE operations
• Conducts regular meetings of pharmacy staff
• Assists in preparation and implementation of pharmacy staff competencies
• Assesses in facility MediTech standardization as required.
• Completes COE pharmacy newsletter for facility pharmacy departments
• Performs other duties as assigned by DCSCO or DDOP
• Practice and adhere to the "Code of Conduct" philosophy and "Mission and Value Statement"

• Project management – assesses work activities and allocates resources appropriately

Job Requirements

EDUCATION
• B. S. in pharmacy required; Pharm.D.
• MBA, or MS preferred

EXPERIENCE
• 5 years experience in hospital pharmacy
• 3 years experience in hospital pharmacy management

CERTIFICATE/LICENSE - • Appropriate State Pharmacy License(s)

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORKING CONDITIONS - Work will be performed in a normal pharmacy environment. Requires standing and walking for long periods of time. Minimal time in normal office environment. Must be able to stoop, kneel, and reach. Requires hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate a telephone, keyboard, calculator, other office equipment, packaging equipment and IV equipment. Work is often performed under stressful situation. Contact may involve dealing with angry or upset people. Must have ability to verbally communicate. Some travel required. Requires lifting papers or boxes up to 50 pounds occasionally. Staff must remain flexible and available to provide staffing assistance for any/all disaster or emergency situations.
