Job Summary –Responsible for negotiating industry leading national agreements for the grouppurchasing organization in the Food and Nutrition products and services areafor HealthTrust and CoreTrust.  Thisposition is expected to secure and expand industry leading financial valueacross multiple client specific engagements.The Director will update and advisemanagement and clients on assigned contracting projects as part of clientspecific contracting.  The Director willcoordinate with various internal organizations including GPO operations; sales& marketing, legal and financial departments as well as member boards inperformance of day to day duties. 
Duties(included but not limited to):

  • Ability toindependently plan and execute project timelines for assigned categories in theFood & Nutrition space, with minimal oversight.
  • Strong understandingof the Food & Nutrition space with an aptitude to learn the specific productcategories assigned and how end-users interface with the products.        
  • Understandingof master food distribution suppliers, contracts, pricing structures and criticalservice elements is necessary.  Furtherunderstanding of distribution processes, prime and regional programs and directmanufacturer contracting is needed. 
  • Individualmust know and be able to use knowledge about supplier to develop strategies,create leverage, mitigate risks, anticipate direction of the market andpotential supplier direction in the Food and Nutrition space.
  • Develops thecontract strategy, formulates a clear vision and articulates steps to achieve thenegotiation objectives.
  • Theindividual must work closely with customer IDNs (clinicians, physicians, andhigh-level executives) to develop a strategy that aligns with customerneeds/requirements, and meets objectives of the group-purchasing organization.  The strategy must be presented and approvedby HealthTrust senior leadership. 
  • Thoroughunderstanding and accountability for the sourcing process for their assignedportfolio.  Including market research,bid preparation, RFI, Strategy Development & Validation, RFP, ContractNegotiations, and contract launch.
  • CAP categorystrategies and final awards must be presented and validated by customer-ledAdvisory Boards and a customer-led, executive-level Supply Chain Board. 
  • Individual'sboard presentations must be well prepared, concise, and articulated clearly. Individualmust consistently deliver a dynamic presentation that captures the audience'sattention and delivered with enthusiasm/passion. Individual must be able toguide the audience to the desired end result.
  • Overseesupplier relationship during the sourcing process.  Participate in supplier business reviews andreview new products/technologies as they arise in assigned categories.
  • Build strongrelationships with senior level supplier contacts.  
  • Build strongcustomer relationships through frequent interaction (all levels, includingexecutive).           
  • Representing HealthTrustat small-to-medium sized industry events, or other organizational projects withSuppliers and Customers.
  • Facilitateconversations with internal functional team during project kick-off to gatherfeedback, opinions, and alignment of resource needs to meet contractinginitiative timelines
  • Communicationof bid process, negotiation status, agreement on terms, financial proposalconcerns and other matters with supplier and internal team
  • Engagingcustomers through one-on-one conversations to articulate business strategy andresolve customer specific issues/concerns with contracting strategy or outcome.
  • Interfacingwith key supply chain executives and end-users in a live environment presentingand/or gaining commitment (advisory boards and supply chain board).  Capable of securing desired outcomes throughpersuasion and influence.
  • Collaborationrequired with functional teams throughout sourcing process.
  • Meet/exceedfinancial & operational goals in the annual contracting plan.
  • Maintaintimely achievement of all assigned sourcing initiatives ensuring activitiesadhere to all established policies and procedures and standards of businessconduct. 
  • Resolvesupplier and/or customer issues, as escalated by Portfolio Specialist.
  • Maintainstrong customer relationships and build trust and respect by consistentlymeeting or exceeding customer expectations. Customers are internal and external.
  • Work withHealthTrust audit team to assist and facilitate engagement and finalization ofaudit projects.
  • Act as achampion for business process change, organizational change, and culturalchange.  May include leading processimprovement or training initiatives.

Job Requirements

AccreditedCollege Bachelor’s degree required.  Master'sDegree preferred, in Business or related field. 7 years ofexperience in negotiation and management of contracts.  Ideal candidate will have experience instrategic sourcing and negotiating a variety of contracts in the Food and Nutritionspace.  Experience with other commercialcategories outside Food a plus.
