Job Summary

The Medical Simulation Specialist is an essential role in facilitating medical simulation for HCA’s Clinical Education Service Line. This position is responsible for leading, integrating, maintaining and operating the computer and audiovisual (AV) technology including manikin and surrounding simulation lab equipment throughout HCA’s Simulation Centers.

In this role you will:

  • Monitor and ensure simulation and education based technologies are maintained to ensure minimal downtime
  • Assess and resolve equipment failures
  • Contribute to the development of curriculum and educational materials for different levels and types of simulation based training
  • Provide consultation, support, and orientation to simulation laboratory procedures, location and use of materials, and the operation of the equipment
  • Collaborate with the Division Simulation Labs to ensure the proper maintenance of all equipment and availability of supplies
  • Identify performance opportunities or training needs and provide coaching, development and training to improve performance in the use of clinical simulation
  • Assist clinical educators with orientation to principles of simulation training technology and configurations

This role may travel up to 30% of the time.

Job Requirements

Education andExperience

  • An Associate’s Degree of certified Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) is required
  • A Bachelor’s Degree with an emphasis in healthcare and healthcare technology is preferred
  • A minimum of 1 (one) year of experience in a simulation lab with simulation software and manikins is required
  • Familiarity with operation of personal computers is essential
  • Familiarity with medical terminology and audiovisual equipment is desirable
  • Certified Healthcare Simulation Operations Specialist (CHSOS) is preferred
