  • Seekinga full-time Pharmacy Operations Manager who is responsiblefor supporting the Director of Pharmacy in managing the pharmacy operations.This includes implementation and enforcement of policies and procedures, Supervisionand training of staff, inventory management, quality assurance and regulatorycompliance.
  • The Operations Managers shall also assistin managing the pharmacy when the Pharmacy Director is unavailable.
  • Interpret orders and transcribes orverifies them accurately and efficiently into the pharmacy computer system.
  • Accurately compounds and dispensepharmaceuticals.
  • Complies with facility policy andprocedures and regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor drug therapy regimens forcontraindications, drug-drug interactions, drug-food interactions, allergiesand appropriateness of drug and dose
  • Provide clinical consultation andclarification to practitioners. Suggests appropriate, cost-effectivetherapeutic alternatives to medical staff as needed.
  • Sustain the hospital formulary,minimizing nonformulary procurements, utilizing therapeutic interchanges andpromotes rational drug therapy selection.
  • Provide accurate and timelymedication information to healthcare staff and patients
  • Document all clinical activities andinterventions accurately and completely.
  •  Responsible for mentoring and education aswell as ongoing analysis of interventions to insure accurate and appropriate documentationand provides summary reports
  • Mentors others in their roles forthese programs.
  • Responsible for thedevelopment, implementation, and monitoring of pharmacy operations and shareclinical initiatives responsibility with Clinical Pharmacy Manager.
  • Responsible for thedevelopment and review of pharmacy policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties asassigned.

  • B.S. or PharmD from anACPE-accredited School of Pharmacy, a Doctor of Pharmacy from anACPE-accredited
  • collegeof pharmacy is preferred
  • Minimum 1 year as a PharmacyClinical/Operations Specialist or one of the following:
  • At least 5 years of hospital pharmacyexperience required; preferably within area of focus
  • Completion of hospital PGY2/ pharmacyspecialty residency or fellowship
  • Other certification (e.g. FCCP,FASHP)
  • Hospital Pharmacy Managementexperience is preferred
  • Active pharmacist license in goodstanding with the appropriate State Board of Pharmacy
  • Active Pharmacy Consultant license orequivalent as per State requirements for a Pharmacy Director/Pharmacist inCharge
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORKING CONDITIONS – Requires prolonged sitting, somebending, stooping and stretching. Requires eye-hand coordination and manualdexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, photocopier, telephone, calculatorand other office equipment. Requires normal range of hearing and eyesight torecord, prepare and communicate appropriate reports. Requires lifting papers orboxes up to 50 pounds occasionally. May be exposed totoxic/caustic/chemicals/detergents. Work is performed in a hospital (pharmacy,nursing units, etc.) Work may be stressful at times. Contact may involvedealing with angry or upset people. Staff must remain flexible and available toprovide staffing assistance for any/all disaster or emergency situations.

CRITICALDEMANDS Ability to work independently andhandle stress appropriately. Ability to work, cooperatively with other membersof HCA, hospital and pharmacy staff. Ability to handle multiple tasks, andadapt to changes in workload and work schedule. Ability to set priorities, makecritical decisions, and respond to client concerns. Fosters a team environmentby providing orientation and training to directors of pharmacy and pharmacystaff. Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written). Demonstratesexcellent customer service skills.
