Job Description

Pharmacy Technician
Job Summary – The CSC Pharmacy Technician will be responsible for assisting in the performance of daily CSC pharmacy tasks including but not limited to: repackaging, drug receiving and put away, order picking and staging, stock replenishment and shipping. This shall be carried out in accordance with all state and federal laws, national regulatory agencies, and the facility departmental policies and procedures.

Supervises – NA
Duties (included but not limited to):
•       Adheres to all Board of Pharmacy, JCAHO, CMS and FDA standards
•       Receive and check in all medication and supplies by packing slip/purchase order/or invoice
•       Perform put away and replenishment of items to storage and picking locations
•       Assist purchasing personnel or accounts payable in researching receiving discrepancies
•       Accurately process, pick, pack and stage customer orders
•       Prepare goods and shipping documents for outgoing shipments which may include legend drugs, non- prescription drugs, contrast media and drug-containing devices
•       Perform checking of picked product for accuracy and document on quality logs
•       Assist in handling and logging of returned products from facilities
•       Complete and document monthly inspections for expired medications
•       Daily documentation of all refrigerator temperatures and communication of variances
•       Demonstrates proper storage of medications
•       Process all orders to be sent to customers following the set standards and guidelines of the organization
•       Organize and maintain a clean work area, and keep all areas free of hazards and obstructions
•       Rotate inventory upon the put away process to ensure the earliest dating gets dispensed first
•       Perform inventory cycle counts as required
•       Assist with the physical inventory counts as required
•       Notify the Pharmacy Manager and Inventory Analyst of excessive runs on products and supplies
•       Package and barcode medications in accordance to appropriate policies and procedures if applicable
•       Maintain records of all prepackaged medications in accordance to all local and federal regulatory agencies
•       Maintain all packaging equipment in accordance to the policies and procedures if applicable
•       Restock packaging supplies to the appropriate locations
•       Knowledgeable of batch preparation and log completion
•       Maintain appropriate communication with customers, co-workers, and other personnel
•       Meet all department mandated timeframes and guidelines
•       Follow all safety policies and procedures.
•       Practice and adhere to the Code of Conduct, Philosophy, and Mission and Value Statement of Supply
Chain Services
•       Attend all required training and education set by the organization
•       Perform other duties as assigned

•       Basic skills: able to perform basic mathematical calculations, balance and reconcile figures, punctuate properly, spell and transcribe accurately
•       Technical skills: Ability to recognize Brand from Generic products, ability to operate or learn to operate packaging equipment
•       Ability to handle multiple priorities appropriately
•       High School Diploma or GED required
•       Technician training program preferred
•       Pharmacy technician experience preferred
•       PTCB Certification preferred. Must be certified on hire if required by state.
•       State Board of Pharmacy Registration required on hire if applicable for state.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORKING CONDITIONS – Requires prolonged sitting, some bending, stooping and stretching.  Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, photocopier, telephone, calculator and other office equipment.  Requires normal range of hearing and eyesight to record, prepare and communicate appropriate reports.  Requires lifting papers or boxes up to (XX) pounds occasionally. Work is an office environment.  Work may be stressful at times.  Contact may involve dealing with angry or upset people.  Staff must remain flexible and available to provide staffing assistance for any/all disaster or emergency situations.
OSHA CATEGORY – The normal work routine involves no exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues (although situations can be imagined or hypothesized under which anyone, anywhere, might encounter potential exposure to body fluids).  Persons who perform these duties are not called upon as part of their employment to perform or assist in emergency care or first aid, or to be potentially exposed in some other way.
